The success of our workshop lies in how we prepare for it. Now more than ever as we work remotely and digitally, it is important to create a seamless, friction- less and enjoyable experience for our participants.

The key to this is paying attention to the details. If the planning and logistics are not right, all our great facilitation may be wasted by small problems that distract and annoy the participants.

I always think about how valuable each person in the workshop is to the organisation, how many hours each person is spending in the session, and how not to waste the organisation’s time and money. If the logistics are not right, people will not be able to take part properly.

When it comes to choosing a venue for In-person workshops, they work best if we are able to go to a different venue, away from the office (so long as you’ve visited it in advance to make sure it’s right for our session). Even if we don’t have catering and venue budgets that allow us to do this, we can still take control over the set-up and experience to ensure the session is as productive as possible.

Here’s some advice on choosing and preparing your workshop venue.
